Tŷ Pren are a workers cooperative that specialise in traditional mortise and tenon timber frame construction, mostly roundwood timber. We use FSC certified sustainably sourced timber from the Woodland we work, in Ceredigion. Each frame is hand crafted on a bespoke basis using hand tools. This way of building locks up carbon, is zero waste, affordable and is aesthetically beautiful. We build houses that meet the zero carbon criteria for One Planet Developments

If it can be built from wood, we will design it and build it! Or our frameworks can be integrated with other sustainable building systems. Such as Straw Bale, Hempcrete, Light Straw Clay and Thatch.
For the next stage of our development we are creating an Association of Natural Builders Cymru.
The aim of this network is to revolutionise home building in Wales- enabling developers and home-builders across the nation to source suppliers who in partnership deliver end to end sustainable housing.
The network will be formed of straw bale builders and bricklayers, lime, clay, and hempcrete plasterers and renderers, wet system plumbers, roofers, renewable and off grid domestic installers, and sustainable painters and decorators. In fact, any trades person who helps build sustainable homes can ask to join the network- so we can win projects through referral together- of any scale- anywhere in Wales.
